Crash kills pregnant mother and several others

Even going to a routine medical checkup can spell disaster for people in California. No one can predict what other drivers will do, and if another driver is speeding, they can cause a wreck that has disastrous results. Sadly, a pregnant mother was on her way to a checkup when she and several others were killed by a speeding driver.

Accident details and causalities

Around 1:30 p.m. on Aug. 18, a pregnant woman was heading to a doctor’s appointment in Windsor Hills, and she was accompanied by her 11-month-old son and boyfriend, who was her unborn baby’s father. As they approached an intersection, a Mercedes-Benz sedan driven by a 37-year-old woman sped through a stop light and struck the car. The crash also involved as many as six other vehicles.

The collision killed the mother, her son, and her boyfriend. It also claimed the lives of two other women and a man whose names were not released. The alleged at-fault driver was arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence. Prosecutors will decide on whether to file criminal charges at a later date.

Wrongful death

Losing a loved one in a preventable car accident is never easy, but the fact that it claimed the lives of a pregnant woman and her unborn child as well as the life of a toddler only adds to the sorrow and pain surviving family must feel. As they deal with their losses, they can look into their options for obtaining compensation. An experienced personal injury attorney in California can explain their rights and options and advocate on their behalf to help them obtain the justice they deserve.
