California accident results in 2 injuries

Two individuals suffered injuries after their car crashed in California’s Angeles National Forest. The accident took place on a recent Saturday afternoon. Only one vehicle was involved in the wreck.

How the motor vehicle crash occurred

The California accident happened at about 4:30 p.m. According to authorities, a car was carrying two individuals south of State Road 14. Police said the motor vehicle then suddenly left the roadway.

The car reportedly landed at the base of a highway embankment. Paramedics fit each individual with a neck brace before a helicopter took them to the hospital. Officials continue to investigate the crash’s cause.

Legal recourse available following the car accident

The CHP might determine through their investigation that the driver caused the accident due to negligent behavior. For instance, the driver may have been speeding when the crash happened or may have been texting while driving. Since it was a one-car accident, it is likely that driver negligence contributed to the crash. In this situation, the injured passenger may file a personal injury claim against the driver, seeking the reimbursement of financial damages sustained in the accident.

Liability has to be established in civil court before a California judge will adjudicate the claim for monetary damages. If the plaintiff is successful in the personal injury claim,  a monetary judgment may be awarded to cover any accident-related losses, including medical center bills. A damage award may also help the passenger cover the loss of wages if the accident injuries prevented that person from being able to work.
