Wrongful death claims might follow fatal crash that orphaned 3

Three young California girls lost their parents in a crash on a recent Tuesday. The children were admitted to the hospital with serious injuries. Sadly, both their parents were declared deceased at the accident scene.

According to family members, the girls, ages 1, 3 and 5, were in the car’s back seat, dressed in their special Christmas pajamas. Their 27-year-old father and 28-year-old mother had taken the children on a drive to enjoy the Christmas lights when an SUV struck their vehicle at approximately 7:45 p.m. The SUV driver was a 22-year-old woman who had reportedly failed to remain at the crash scene.

Police arrested the woman later, and she now faces felony counts of two murders, leaving the accident scene where injuries occurred and causing injury while driving under the influence of alcohol. Allegations of causing significant bodily injuries to the three children might lead to sentencing enhancements. Authorities say this driver has pending charges after an August arrest due to driving while impaired. However, charges in that case have not been filed because the court is still awaiting toxicology reports.

According to the deceased mother’s sister, a GoFundMe account was established to obtain financial support for the children’s current and future needs and educational requirements in the long-term. Furthermore, the California civil justice system allows surviving family members to pursue financial relief by filing a wrongful death lawsuit. Such a claim can be filed on behalf of the three young girls, seeking recovery of documented losses. These could include monetary losses and also emotional damages the children suffered from the loss of their parents.
