2 injured in California motor vehicle accident

A woman driving a van was killed in a motor vehicle wreck in California. A man also suffered injuries in the crash. It appears this accident was the result of driver negligence; in which case the reportedly at-fault driver might be held financially responsible for any injuries resulting from the fatal crash.

Events leading to the car crash

The California wreck occurred at about 3:45 p.m. on a recent Thursday. According to authorities, a woman was driving a minivan along Nebraska Avenue and came to a stop. Meanwhile, a man was apparently driving a pickup truck north along Highway 41.

Police said the truck driver struck the minivan’s front-left side after trying to avoid a collision. The minivan driver reportedly suffered serious injuries and was rushed to a medical center. Authorities said the truck driver reported experiencing pain but was not taken to a hospital. Police continue to investigate the cause of the wreck.

How an attorney can help

The injured minivan driver may choose to file a personal injury claim against the truck driver, seeking the reimbursement of financial damages sustained in the California accident. Liability has to be established, based upon appropriate proof of negligence, before a judge will adjudicate claims for monetary damages. A successful plaintiff may be awarded monetary damages to cover hospital bills and other losses stemming from the accident. For instance, her damages may cover any loss of wages resulting from her accident injuries.
