2 dead, 2 injured in California motor vehicle crash

Two people were killed in a tragic motor vehicle crash in California. In addition, two other individuals suffered injuries in the wreck. The collision involved two cars and took place on a recent Sunday afternoon.

Events leading up to the accident

The recent accident took place in Kings County at a little past 3 p.m. According to authorities, a 42-year-old man was driving a car north on a local road. Reportedly, he swerved into the southbound lane and struck a second car.

The California Highway Patrol reported that both drivers passed away at the crash scene. Meanwhile, a boy, 17, and a woman, 48, suffered injuries and were rushed to local medical centers. A media report did not include details on their updated conditions. Authorities indicated that they believe alcohol or drugs were causal factors in the accident.

An attorney can help

If the evidence suggests that one of the drivers caused the California accident due to driving under the influence, the other deceased driver’s surviving loved ones may choose to file a wrongful death claim against the reportedly at-fault driver’s estate and anyone else with an ownership interest in the car he was driving when the crash occurred. Likewise, the two injured parties might file personal injury claims, seeking the reimbursement of financial damages incurred due to the accident. A successful claim typically results in an award of monetary damages to cover accident-related losses, such as funeral costs and medical expenses. Damages may also cover lost wages in appropriate circumstances as well as other documented financial losses.
