The decision to drive while under the influence of alcohol or drugs is never a good one. All too often, those who choose to drive under the influence cause accidents that have disastrous results. Nowhere is this more apparent than in a recent car accident involving two vehicles in Seal Beach that claimed the lives of two people.
Accident details
According to reports, a man from Garden Grove, 39, was driving while intoxicated and collided with another car on the 405 Freeway in Seal Beach. This accident occurred sometime close to midnight on Saturday, Nov. 13. The crash resulted in the victims’ car, a Honda, to catch on fire. Inside that car were two people; however, the report did not mention offer any descriptions about them. Both were declared dead at the accident scene.
The alleged at-fault driver was taken to a local medical center for treatment of major injuries. At the time of the report, it was unclear whether he had been taken into custody on suspicion of driving while under the influence or still recovering in the hospital. Regardless, police believe the man was impaired while driving, which led to the accident. He had been driving a Volkswagen.
Legal recourse for victims
If police do determine the man was driving while impaired, the surviving family members of the deceased victims can use that as evidence of negligence should they pursue wrongful death claims against the alleged at-fault driver. To increase their chances for a successful outcome, they will want to work with an experienced personal injury attorney as soon as possible.
